Rules: Changes for the 2026-2027 Season
There are a few small changes to the rulebook for this season:
Rule 2d: Line removed about when payments are due
10d - checking..
Rules 13d, 14i, 15e: Cup competition rules updated to confirm both finals and semi-finals should be played on an alley that is neutral for both teams.
Additional rules (17c and 17d) added to officially set out the way cup competition fixtures are drawn:
Rule 17c: Teams will be assigned to venues, then listed alphabetically by surname and Christian name if needed. A random draw will then take place to determine the order of play at each venue.
Rule 17d: The final will be listed by highest first round score and then as 17c. A random draw will then determine the order of play.
Clarification for Rule 10d and 10e: 'A.N. OTHER' PLAYERS
Following the introduction of the 'AN OTHER' rule for league games in 2024, additional clarification has been provided by the League:
AN OTHER allows a team with only 7 or 8 players to nominate players to play again to make up the numbers.
AN OTHER players must take part on the last leg. (The player's original go can be on any leg).
The AN OTHER players must be decided before the start of the game, and their names added to the board.
The AN OTHER player cannot be changed once the games starts, even if that player leaves early.
The scorecard should be marked with an Asterix (*) for all AN OTHER players.
AN OTHER scores count towards the team score for that game, but do not get counted for that players individual averages or 50 Club listings.
The website tracks all scores recorded by AN OTHER entries. This information is shared with the League Chairman. Collected data includes the number of occurrences AN OTHER is used, and the scores recorded. This check is made to monitor any teams that may be perceived as using the AN OTHER rule to their advantage.
